Shared Rides

I joined Uber in January 2022, working on expanding shared rides. My first project had 3 objectives: to increase awareness of shared rides, reiterate the the product is now only for single riders, and re-emphasize savings stemming from sharing a ride. The challenge was to design within a robust existing system and an app that most people put away after the ride. With the use of conditional decision making and haptics, we created an experience that lowered confusion related cancellations and saw an overall hike in the number of shared rides taken.

Carpool

Our team introduced a new feature called “Carpool” where riders would be able to set a scheduled pickup and drop off time within a designated service area and times. This would be an eco and cost friendly way to bridge supply and demand gaps during peak hours. I created new discovery touchpoints and a user flow for learning more about and booking carpool rides.

Split fare in Group Rides

Group rides is a product where a handful of people can call a ride to a common destination. I added the ability to split fare so that everyone in the ride can share the cost equally. While the design was ultimately straightforward, the logic behind it was difficult because we had to expand within the limitations of the existing split ride feature.
